Imagine if Bobby Bowden had retired following the 1998 football season. Imagine FSU's athletic director then announcing that the new coach of the Seminoles was Brad Scott, former FSU offensive coordinator. In 1998, Scott went 1-10 in his final season at South Carolina.
What do you think the nation's reaction to the hiring at FSU would be?
The analogy between that situation and what Auburn has done isn't that different. Chizik was 2-10 at Iowa State last year, and he had to fire his offensive and defensive coordinators this off season to manage the heat.
It's a bizarre move on its best day.
To enjoy Auburn fans at their most miserable following the announcement, check this out.
